How to Turn Off Battery Saver on an Android Phone (Every Brand)
Turn it off from quick settings or Settings, stop it coming back on by itself, and keep one app running while it is on
On this page
To turn off battery saver on an Android phone, swipe down from the top of the screen to open quick settings and tap Battery Saver (called Power saving on some phones) so it is off. Or open Settings > Battery > Battery Saver and switch it off. Then turn off its schedule, so it does not come back on by itself.
The names below can be slightly different on your phone, because each brand and Android version uses its own words. If you cannot find one, type "battery saver" or "power saving" into the search bar at the top of Settings.
What battery saver does on an Android phone
Battery saver makes your battery last longer by doing less. While it is on, your phone may:
- pause apps in the background and delay their notifications
- stop or slow down syncing, such as email and backups
- turn on dark theme and lower some visual effects
- limit location and other services when the screen is off
That is useful when your battery is low. But it affects every app on the phone. Apps that must keep working, such as a messaging app or an SMS gateway app, can stop or fall behind while battery saver is on.
The quick way: quick settings
- Swipe down from the top of the screen. Swipe down again to see all the tiles.
- Find Battery Saver (or Power saving, Battery saver or Power saving mode, depending on your phone).
- Tap it so it shows as off.

If you do not see the tile, tap the pencil or edit button in quick settings and drag the tile in.
The Settings way, by phone brand
- Google Pixel and stock Android: Settings > Battery > Battery Saver, then turn off Use Battery Saver.
- Samsung: Settings > Battery (on some models Battery and device care > Battery), then turn off Power saving.
- Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco: Settings > Battery (on some versions Battery and performance), then turn off Battery saver and Ultra battery saver.
- Oppo, Realme, OnePlus: Settings > Battery, then turn off Power saving mode and Super power saving mode if you have it.
- Vivo: Settings > Battery, then turn off Power saving mode or Super power saving.
- Infinix, Tecno, itel: Settings > Battery (on some phones Power Marathon or Battery Lab), then turn off the power saving mode.
- Huawei, Honor: Settings > Battery, then turn off Power saving mode and Ultra power saving.

Stop battery saver turning on by itself
Many phones turn battery saver on by themselves when the battery gets low. If it keeps coming back:
- Stock Android and Pixel: open Settings > Battery > Battery Saver > Set a schedule, and choose No schedule.
- Other brands: in the same battery saver screen, look for an option that turns it on at a battery level, at a time, or automatically, and switch it off.
You can keep a schedule if you like. Battery saver turning on at a very low battery level is often a good idea; just know that background apps may pause while it is on.

Why can't I turn off battery saver?
- The battery is very low. Some phones keep battery saver on, or turn it back on, until you charge.
- A schedule or routine turns it back on. Check the schedule above, and on Samsung also check Modes and Routines.
- An extreme or ultra mode is on. These modes limit the phone to a few apps. Turn them off from the battery screen or from the notice they show.
- A work profile or company policy controls it. On a phone managed by your workplace, ask your IT team.
Keep one app running even with battery saver on
You do not have to turn battery saver off for good. You can let one app keep running while battery saver stays available for everything else. Turn off battery optimization for that app, and follow the extra steps for your phone brand:

Running WaSMS on this phone?
Battery saver can pause your SMS sending. The WaSMS SMS app shows the steps to keep it running on your phone, and if the phone stops checking in, the organization owner gets an email and a WhatsApp after 30 minutes. Set up your SMS phone to get the app.
