Link your Android phone as an SMS gateway

WaSMS uses your own Android phone as an SMS gateway. Install our app, pair once with a QR, and after that you can send SMS from WaSMS — messages go through your phone’s real cellular SIM.

Best for: Local SMS, OTP delivery from a regional SIM, anyone with unlimited SMS on their plan.

1. Download the Android app

Get it from Dashboard → Downloads. Side-load it on the Android phone you want to use (enable “Install unknown apps” in Settings if blocked).

2. Open the app and grant permissions

The app needs Send SMS, Read SMS (delivery tracking), and battery optimization exemption.

3. Scan the pairing QR

1. In WaSMS: Channels → + Add channel → SMS.
2. WaSMS shows a QR code.
3. In the Android app: tap Pair device and scan.

Phone shows as Connected within 10 seconds.

4. Send a test

From Campaigns, create a one-recipient SMS campaign — send to yourself first.

Keep the phone alive

• Keep on charger 24/7.
• Battery optimization off (Settings → Apps → WaSMS Gateway → Battery → Unrestricted).
• WiFi or mobile data on.
• Sufficient SIM credit.

Troubleshooting

• Phone shows Offline — open app, tap Reconnect; check internet.
• SMS not delivered — check SIM balance, recipient may have blocked you, or carrier filtering bulk SMS.
• App keeps getting killed — Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei are aggressive. Add to auto-launch + battery whitelist in security settings.
