Chats and leads
Your dashboard, explained
What each part of your WaSMS home page means, and what to do when it asks for your attention.

On this page
Your dashboard is the first page you see after you sign in. It shows what needs your attention, how your messages are doing, and how much of your plan you use. This guide goes through it from top to bottom.
Needs you now
This box lists things you should act on. It only shows items that apply to you right now. These are the things it can show:
- A WhatsApp number that is not connected.
- Messages that could not be sent in the last 24 hours.
- An invoice that is due or overdue. Only the owner sees invoices.
- Chats that are waiting for a reply.
- A plan limit that is 80% or more used.
Each item has a button that opens the page that fixes it. Many also have a Learn how link that opens a guide.
Get set up
This shows five first steps. A tick appears next to each one you finish:
- Connect your WhatsApp.
- Add your contacts.
- Send your first message.
- Turn on AI replies.
- Add a chat button to your website.
When all five are done, this box goes away.
Results
Pick a period at the top: Today (the last 24 hours), 7 days or 30 days. The numbers change to match.
- Sent — messages that left WaSMS on WhatsApp, SMS, email or website chat. Messages that failed are not counted here.
- Delivered — messages that reached the customer’s phone or inbox, as reported back by WhatsApp or the phone network.
- Read — WhatsApp messages the customer opened. This only counts customers who have read receipts turned on.
- Failed — messages that could not be sent.
- Received — messages your customers sent to you.
- Reply time — the average time between a customer’s message and your first answer. Only answers given within a day are counted.
Under these, Why messages failed sorts the failures into groups:
- Your WhatsApp number was not connected.
- WhatsApp could not find the number.
- WhatsApp did not accept the message.
- Your WaSMS app could not be reached. This means the app on your computer that connects WhatsApp was closed or offline.
- Other reasons.
For fixes, read why messages are not sending. If “WhatsApp did not accept the message” keeps happening, chat with us.
Waiting for your reply
This lists open chats where the customer wrote last, in the past 7 days. Click one to open it in Chats.
New contacts
This shows the people added to your contacts during the period you picked. Where they came from is worked out from the first thing that happened:
- A lead form entry.
- A website chat.
- A message the customer sent you first, on WhatsApp, SMS or email.
Contacts you imported, added by hand, added through the API, or messaged first are shown as Added by you.
This section also shows two tiles. Website chat shows how many times visitors opened your chat button, and how many times it was shown on your website. Lead forms shows the entries in the period. To set these up, see Add a chat button to your website and Collect leads with a form.
Your plan
This shows what your plan includes and how much you use: WhatsApp numbers, contacts, team members and SMS phones. The owner also sees the price and the next bill date. To learn more, read plans and limits and how to upgrade your plan.
If you are a team member
An Admin sees the same dashboard as the owner, without the price, the next bill date and invoices. An Agent sees a shorter dashboard: the chats waiting for them and their own replies:
- Replies sent
- Chats answered
- Your reply time
Agents do not see results, new contacts or the plan. If the owner hid a WhatsApp number from a team member, its chats are not shown to them.
