A lead form is a small form you put on your website. A visitor fills it in, and WaSMS saves their details. You manage forms on the Lead forms page.

Create a form

  1. Open Lead forms.
  2. Click Create form (or Create your first form).
  3. Type a Form name, for example “Newsletter signup”.
  4. Set up the fields (see below).
  5. Choose what happens on submit (see below).
  6. Click Create form.

Fields

A new form starts with Full name and Email address, both required. For each field you can choose:

  • Type: Full name, Email, Phone, Paragraph (a longer text answer) or Dropdown (the visitor picks one option). For a dropdown, type the options one per line.
  • Label: the words the visitor sees.
  • Required: the visitor must fill it in.

Click Add field for more. Use the small up and down arrows to change the order, and the X to remove a field.

What happens on submit

  • Create contact from submission — the visitor is added to your contacts. This is ticked by default. You can add a tag to the new contact in Add tags. Only the first tag you type is saved.
  • Save submitter to contact group — optional. Pick one of your contact groups.
  • WhatsApp action after submit — choose one:
    • No WhatsApp action.
    • Auto-send WhatsApp message to customer — WaSMS sends your message by itself. You need a Phone field marked Required. You can pick which connected WhatsApp number it is sent from. Otherwise the first connected one is used.
    • Open customer WhatsApp with pre-filled message — the customer’s WhatsApp opens with your message ready, addressed to the number you type. Use the country code without a plus sign, for example 923271111786.

When you choose a WhatsApp action, you must write the message. You can use the customer’s answers in it. For example, Hi {{name}}, thanks for reaching out! The page lists the names you can use, based on your fields.

Put the form on your website

  1. On the form’s card, click Embed.
  2. Click Copy.
  3. Paste the code on your website where you want the form to appear.

If you use a website builder, look for a block called “custom code” or “embed”. If you are not sure, send the code to the person who looks after your website.

See the entries

Click Submissions on the form’s card. You see a table with each person’s answers and the date. The card also shows how many fields the form has and how many submissions it received. Your dashboard shows lead form entries too, and new contacts from forms are counted under “Where they came from”.

Change or delete a form

Click Edit to change a form. Click the bin icon to delete it. Deleting a form also removes its embed code from use.
